With 2020 came a new way of life, one with masks, social distancing, and lots of handwashing. Many businesses, including gyms, had to completely reinvent themselves, often incorporating outdoor workouts into their class format. Here are five South Florida gyms that have added outdoor workouts to their programming.

Barry’s

Barry’s now offers outdoor classes several times a day at all of their locations. The outdoor areas will vary depending on which studio you are attending, while restrooms and parking are available at all locations. The classes are 50 minutes utilizing a combination of both weights and bands mixed with cardio. Each bench is spaced 6 ft apart and masks are not required during the workout. Barry’s provides all equipment, including headphones for a fun silent disco. They also offer their famous Fuel Bar for your post-class smoothie. All classes can be booked online or through their app.

Locations:

  • Miami Beach: 1212 Lincoln Road, Floor 5, Miami Beach
  • Aventura: 2920 NE 207th Street, Floor 7, Aventura
  • Wynwood (launching soon): 571 NW 28th St, Miami

SoulCycle

SoulCycle has moved their bikes outdoors for a fun new ride on Miami Beach. Bikes are spaced six feet apart to ensure social distancing, and masks are required except for when you are riding. Parking is available at the entrance on 16th street for $5 and restrooms are available. Be ready for a silent disco audio system and incredible views. Classes are offered daily and can be booked through the SoulCycle app.

Location: 1212 Lincoln Road, Rooftop, Miami Beach

ADAPT

One of the highlights of ADAPT is that the facility has a massive bay door that opens the 22 thousand square foot facility to the outside, circulating fresh air into the gym at all times. They also have a large outdoor turf making it seamless for members to take part in group classes, personal training, and daily workouts outside by offering full utilization of our equipment outside.

The ADAPT trainers have specially programmed each class to be done both outside and inside. They constantly rotate between the facility and turf to ensure one-on-one attention is given to everyone attending each group class.

Location: 14901 NE 20th Ave, North Miami

RedBike

RedBike now offers outdoor rides right in the center of the city right next to the Miami River. Bikes are spaced six feet apart and masks are not required during your ride. Shoes, a towel, and headphones for a silent disco are included in your reservation. Parking is available at Brickell City Center. Be ready for a high-energy, full-body party on a bike with a touch of Miami/Latin flair! Classes are offered daily and can be booked on their website.

Green Monkey Yoga

Green Monkey Yoga expanded their studio classes to include spots on their outdoor terrace that wraps around the studio, in addition to indoor spots. The terrace has a capacity of 25 socially-distanced spots for those who are more comfortable outdoors. On Tuesdays, Green Monkey Yoga also hosts classes at the parking garage at 1111 Lincoln Road, increasing the per class capacity to 75 spots, with classes running all day.
