ClassPass analyzed thousands of reservations made on their platform over the past year to create the 2022 ClassPass & Mindbody Look Back Report. Here are some of the trends they found around fitness and wellness.
Sculpt classes – often a subset of Pilates, yoga and strength training — were the fastest growing workout of 2022 with a 471% increase in bookings from January to October. Acro Yoga also saw growth, with reservations increasing 200% in 2022. So, if you’re looking to improve your flexibility and try your hand at acrobatics, might be a good time to give it a go.
Strength training continues to be the most popular workout of 2022 for the second year in a row. Not only did it hold the top spot year-over-year but people also actually attended strength training classes more often in 2022 than 2021 —there was a 94% increase in reservations from 2021 to 2022.
As exercising expands beyond just breaking a sweat, for the first time ever, stretching also made the top 10 fitness reservations list. Whether it’s recovery, preventative, or a low impact way to get your blood flowing, it’s important to incorporate stretching into your routine.
And if you are a newbie, you are most likely to be found on a bike. The most popular first class on ClassPass is a cycling class.
You are most likely to see a packed class on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. — the most popular time and day to workout. Classes that are 60 minutes are most likely to book out, and the 60-minute slot is the most-popular class length.
While it may seem that January is a popular time to get back into a fitness routine, the most popular months to workout were actually August and September. This proved “back to school” season is also “back to the gym” season.

Motion is medicine at DFit Training in Fort Lauderdale, where the priority is movement, mindfulness, and recovery. Find out how good you could feel at this new studio by Danny Fam!
DFit Training Studio was established in 2015 within a 900 square foot personal training studio in Pompano Beach. After being forced to pivot due to COVID-19, Danny Fam designed and developed the new location in Fort Lauderdale from the ground up. Now DFit Training Studio is fueled by state-of-the-art equipment and industry-best fitness instruction in a 2,500 square foot space.
Combining elements of exercise science, movement, mindfulness, technology & recovery, the DFit Studio is innovatively engineered to optimize both physical and mental fitness while enhancing human performance. The DFit Studio features interior elements with a high-contrast palette of bright whites, rich charcoals, elegant raw woods, and natural greens against sleek elements of black porcelain tile and white oak. The Studio has a unique zoning approach that facilitates high and low energy zones, consisting of a dedicated zone for strength and free weights with rubber flooring, turf flooring for functional training, a premium cardio zone, and a glass-enclosed private yoga studio with white oak luxury vinyl tile flooring.
DFit Training Studio soft-opened this fall and plans to host a Grand Opening on Friday, January 13, 2023.
"We offer goal-specific, science-based, structured programming that is completely customized to the individual," said Danny Fam, Owner and Founder. "Through one of the assessments (The Functional Movement Screen), we are able to determine where the imbalances or asymmetries are in one’s movement and uncover where one’s greatest movement opportunities lie. Cookie-cutter programs online also make the assumption that everyone moves functionally, and this is rarely the case in my experience. As a result, fitness programs are built on dysfunction, and this is a sure path to injury."
DFit Training Studio is able to provide a unique, personalized environment. Here you are able to get the quality and attention you would expect of a boutique studio, with a variety of workout options that would rival a larger gym. You can find a balance between personal training, small group personal training, private yoga, massage, recovery, and premium cardio equipment.
Another differentiator is what Fam calls their "strategic location."
"We've opened our studio side-by-side to our strategic partners Liquivida Lounge, a medical spa that offers nutrient and vitamins IV therapy and innovative aesthetics and weight loss solutions," said Fam. "After cross-marketing our business for the last 10 years, we are now able to serve as a 'one stop shop' for everything wellness and fitness. Members are encouraged to get their blood work done by Liquivida where we can then receive vital information from their Doctors and Practitioner's regarding our clients results. We are in a unique position to fine tune our clients programs down to the cellular level, prescribing them with the most individualized programs that enhances not only their fitness, but their recovery and lifestyle."
Members value the highly-personalized fitness experience driven by a complete suite of innovation through DFit's digital training platform, Mywellness from Technogym. Each member is prescribed with an individualized training program designed around their specific needs and goals that will improve their lifestyle, keeping them active in the gym, at home, and wherever they are. Members also love the upscale vibe of the studio, making fitness feel like luxury.
Amenities include restrooms, showers, full-sized lockers, retail and apparel, front and rear parking, private glass enclosed yoga studio, recovery room, filtered water fountains, espresso, and snack bar.
Their monthly subscription model or "Prescription Based Training" membership includes training as well as open gym access for members to use on their non-training days. Training options vary from private 1-on-1, semi-private (2 people), or small group training (4 members). Members can chose to train one, two, or three times per week and are billed month-to-month in advance with no contract or initiation fees. Their training package model includes training without open gym access. Packages can be purchased as 5-pack, 10-pack, or 20-pack at discounted rates.
You can find DFit Training Studio at 3712 N Ocean Blvd in Fort Lauderdale.

On Sunday, December 18, Anatomy will host their 6th annual #HourPushUp Challenge raising funds for Udonis Haslem Foundation and Make-A-Wish Southern Florida. This challenge invites members and guests to work out for wishes and the future of the Miami community, calling upon participants to do as many pushups as they physically can in a one-hour timeframe.
Udonis Haslem, Marc Megna, Chris Paciello, and the Miami community, will gather to participate in this special and meaningful experience, challenging themselves for a cause. This event is also a celebration of Udonis Haslem’s charitable efforts as he enters his 20th and final season for the Miami Heat.
“We are so grateful for Udonis Haslem and the amazing community we have created through Anatomy, bringing generous participants to this event every single year," said Anatomy. "Watching our community come together for such a great cause touches our hearts, and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve at our 6th annual #HourPushUpChallenge!”
Prior to the challenge, each of the participants will collect monetary pledges, donated on a per push-up basis. Supporters of the event also may offer flat-fee donations via the website. 100% of the funds raised per push-up will be donated to the Udonis Haslem Foundation and Make-A-Wish Southern Florida to help enrich lives of people in local underserved communities and grant wishes to local wish kids.
To date, the #HourPushUpChallenge has raised more than $568,000 and granted over 110 wishes for kids. Last year marked the first #HourPushUpChallenge where Udonis Haslem Foundation joined forces with Anatomy and Make-A-Wish Southern Florida for this event, helping to raise an excess of $215,000. This year, Udonis Haslem, Anatomy, and Make-A-Wish Southern Florida have set a benchmark of $300,000 as their minimum goal to raise to help impact the children and our community.
“I'm very excited for year 2 of the #HourPushUpChallenge," said Haslem, 3x NBA Champion and Miami Heat Captain. "We had a great time last year giving back to the community. A lot of people came together for a cause that they believed in, and we were able to make great things happen. We hope this year we raise over our goal of $350k and go even bigger!"
Haslem has created TEAM UD, which will be led by 5 people. That group will raise money and do push-ups together in hopes to complete 2,000 push-ups in an hour with the goal of each push up being worth a minimum of $30 per push up.
“We thank the generous folks at Anatomy fitness, Udonis Haslem, and everyone who participates in the #HourPushUpChallenge," said Norm Wedderburn, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Southern Florida. "The event has become one of our favorite events of the year and helps impact the lives of those in our community. The determination and hard work of all of the participants and organizers means that many more children will get to experience a wish come true.”
Anatomy’s 2022 #HourPushUpChallenge will take place at Anatomy Coconut Grove located at 3363 Pan American Drive in Miami. To donate or participate visit PushupChallenge.AnatomyFitness.com.

In a one-of-a-kind philanthropic initiative, players from the Miami Heat, Dolphins, Marlins, Inter Miami, and Florida Panthers have teamed up to support Greater Miami nonprofits. Athletes from the five major professional sports teams in South Florida donated signed jerseys to the “Jersey for Miami” campaign. This effort rallies donors to support more than 1,000 local nonprofit organizations.
“Our professional athletes will help us win with ‘Jersey for Miami!’ The Miami Foundation is so grateful to the Heat, Dolphins, Marlins, Inter Miami and the Panthers for their incredible support said Rebecca Fishman Lipsey, president and CEO of The Miami Foundation. “This jersey campaign is an outgrowth of our community’s love for all sports and to rally together. When we connect through this campaign, we’ll create a new team of Floridians passionate to build and strengthen the social and economic fortitude of Greater Miami.”
Participating professional players include Gabe Vincent, Miami Heat; JJ Bleday, Miami Marlins; Robert Taylor, Gregore de Magalhaes Silva, and Leonardo Campana, Inter Miami; Jaelan Phillips, Dophins; and Aleksander Barkov and Sam Reinhart, Florida Panthers.
Funds raised through “Jersey for Miami” will boost the overall dollar amount available to nonprofits that participate in Give Miami Day, on Thursday, November 17, one of the nation’s biggest 24-hour giving events. Last year, Give Miami Day 2021 made history as more than 38,000 donors generously gave over $32 million to champion causes that improve local quality of life and equity.
The contest is simple: now through Friday, November 11, the pros root on the public to be champions and recruit donors to raise money through nine nonprofit categories - animal welfare, arts and culture, economic development, education and youth, environment, equity, faith-based services, health and wellness, and inclusion and community care. The top three fundraisers win a set of five signed jerseys, cash prizes up to $5,000, plus a Give Miami Day gift card to be used on that day so they can further support nonprofits.
This campaign grows the dollars available to nonprofits in advance of Give Miami Day into an extra score for our Bonus Pool that will profit all participating organizations. The Miami Foundation will distribute these extra dollars to nonprofits throughout the event, giving them access to more cash than just what is donated on Give Miami Day.
Details and registration are located at JerseyForMiami.org. Winners will be announced on Give Miami Day.

With a no-excuses approach, 54D’s signature 54-day program features high intensity group training, nutrition, recovery and community. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, 54D has received global acclaim after founder and former professional soccer player Rodrigo Garduño took to Instagram amid pandemic lockdowns and motivated hundreds of thousands of people around the world to stay positive and healthy.
“We have always been a catalyst of transformation. We conceive techniques to train the mind and body and prepare our community (or participants) to break limits to achieve results,” said Garduño, founder and creator of 54D. “Our expansion in New York City seemed like the perfect position to continue the brand's evolution, following our vision to make this program accessible to more people. 54D in New York City will introduce people to the new version of themselves.”
Besides its physical locations, the brand also exploded digitally in over 90 countries with 54D ON, the online version of the brand’s signature 54-day program that offers a state-of-the-art at-home workout experience, and, earlier this year, launched an Amazon Alexa Skill, where users are able to access quick workouts and get inspiration directly from the brand’s founder.
“Since we started offering our online program, we have had so much interest from various markets to bring our on-site program to them,” said Omar Yunes, CEO of 54D. “People want to experience immersive, in-person training. It’s a program unlike any other. We are proud to begin our national expansion and give people the opportunity to try the program on-site. We felt New York City was the perfect place to kick off our expansion and are excited to open our doors this fall.”

Peloton is going to start selling its bikes, treadmills and other products in Dick’s Sporting Goods locations. While there is no launch date yet, they are aiming to have Peloton products in more than 100 Dick’s stores in time for the holiday shopping season.
The collaboration will make Dick’s the first brick-and-mortar retailer outside of its namesake stores to carry Peloton equipment. Peloton had long been an exclusively direct-to-consumer business before it began selling its products on Amazon in August.
Dick’s will carry Peloton’s Bike, Bike+, Tread, and Guide, as well as bike shoes and exercise mats, the companies announced last week.
“This partnership [with Dick’s] is a natural fit for our brand and our Member acquisition goals,” said Jen Parker, Peloton’s senior vice president of global direct sales.

The term 'hot girl walk' can be traced back to TikTok user @exactlyliketheothergirls in 2021 and it has really caught on since then. Essentially just a long walk outside while looking cute and maybe listening to an inspiration podcast or fun playlist, Hot Girl Walks have taken over. While you can certainly take a walk by yourself at any time, you could also join the Miami group and make some friends in the process!
We caught up with Hot Girl Walk Miami co-hosts Monica Villegas (@itsmonicavillegas), Lucia Di Tore (@luditore), and Lucy Nelles (@lucelianelles) to learn more about the group. Originally started by Gabi Ayala while she lived in Miami, the group lives on!
M, L, and L: The hot girl walk is a meet up held every week in Miami to help women connect, make friends and build community in Miami.
G: I decided to start this community because I was in search of friends, which I found very hard to make in Miami. I decided to host the walks with the main focus on creating community and friendships because it was something deeply wanted and noticed other girls did too!
M, L, and L: No, we all met during one of the walks and loved it so much we knew we wanted to keep it going!
M, L, and L: Anywhere from 60 to 130 has been our largest group so far!
M, L, and L: Every Saturday at 9 AM! As the weather cools down we will probably do them closer to 10 AM though.
M, L, and L: We started testing different Miami routes but so far we've walked around Edgewater, Brickell, Miami Design District, and Miami Beach. We'll definitely continue to test more routes though!
M, L, and L: Being such a large crowd we usually attract quite a bit of attention and it leads to really nice interactions. We had a walk in Brickell once where an older lady asked what we were doing and when we explained it to her she was gushing about how beautiful it was that we were building a community of strong women who have each other's backs and get to connect on deeper levels.
M, L, and L: It's amazing to watch this community grow every week! Not only is getting outside for a walk first thing on a Saturday morning an amazing way to kick off the weekend, but you also get to do it with an amazing, supportive group of women! We love seeing the community members hanging out outside the walk as well and building genuine friendships (lots of girls workout together, go to the beach, dinner or other activities during the week).
M, L, and L: Check out @hotgirlwalkmiami on Instagram for all of the details of our walks!

Just when you thought Miami couldn’t get any hotter, Channing Tatum’s Magic Mike Live announced their North American Tour will debut in the Magic City this fall. The limited-run live experience is premiering in Miami on October 13, 2022, at the Miami Marine Stadium site.
Conceived and co-directed by Channing Tatum, Magic Mike Live is based on the movies “Magic Mike” and “Magic Mike XXL” as well as the HBOMax series “Finding Magic Mike”. The 90-minute performance features some of the world’s sexiest, most talented men performing heart-racing dance routines in front of, above and all around you. Equal parts empowering and exhilarating, the show is punctuated by unexpected, temperature-raising acts from a thrilling range of acrobatic stunts, dance performances under falling water and extravagant musical talent, sure to keep you hooked and ready for more.
We talked to three dancers for Magic Mike Live to find out more about their fitness routines and lifestyle. Is anyone surprised they love the gym?!
Nicholas Phillips: My preferred form of fitness or strength training is High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) because not only is there a vital cardio element that keeps my stamina in check, it helps maintain my flexibility and mobility. I am also a coach at F45, a HIIT gym, so I am always there training and coaching.
Nate Bryan: For Magic Mike Live, I stay in shape by constantly stretching and keeping my body as warm as possible every moment of the day. I have a regular gym routine going to the gym 4-5 days a week, alternating heavy lifting with high volume days. My goal is to hit 2 different muscle groups per day.
Brian Siregar: I train at the gym 5-6 times a week with the good old Push/Pull/Legs split. I love the gym!
NP: Always start my day with a coffee from my Nespresso machine! If possible, I prefer working out in the morning. Most things after that, such as rehearsal schedules, are frequently changing depending on what job I am working on. If I’m not on a job I tend to fill my time taking dance classes and coaching at F45, sometimes working out twice a day.
NB: An average day is waking up around 10-11 a.m., and heading to the gym for about 1-1.5 hrs. I love producing music on the side, so I typically work on music for the rest of the day while my breaks are spent on stretching and eating since we are burning over 1500 calories while doing two shows a night.
BS: We love a morning gym sesh. After that, I get to meal prepping for the day and soon enough in Miami I’ll be dancing every night!
NP: My brother and I started breakdancing when he was 14 and I was 11. Throughout my teen years I took it more seriously and started taking hip hop classes as well. After high school I did two years of full-time training in all styles; adding jazz and ballet technique to my repertoire followed by 1 year of full time musical theatre.
NB: I started my dance journey last summer on an unscripted reality show by HBO Max called “Finding Magic Mike.” I have always enjoyed dancing but this is the most serious I have taken it. While I am new to dance, I feel I have a natural ability to pick up things very quickly.
BS: I’ve been breakdancing since I was 13 but started training in more technical styles when I went to college where I studied dance.
NP: I’m very much into HIIT workouts.
NB: My favorite type of workout is either lifting heavy or just playing a sport to keep my athletic ability up to par.
BS: My favorite type of workout is just dumbbell work. Especially on push day, the pump goes crazy!
NP: I’m a sucker for anything salted caramel, particularly ice cream!
NB: I HAVE AN OBSESSION WITH SWEETS! I find myself waking up in the middle of the night to grab some twinkies. Also a big cheesecake fan!
BS: McDonald’s, hands down. Large meal. Lemme at ‘em!
NP: Other physical hobbies of mine include tennis and snowboarding, both of which I’ve done from a very young age.
NB: A very big component of mine has always been to listen to my body and to get the right food in my system to help with the overall function of your body! Before working with Magic Mike Live I played professional baseball so I understand what it takes to work hard on and off the stage.
BS: I’d love to do more yoga to be honest. I definitely want to work so much more on my mobility.
Tickets to Magic Mike Live are on sale now at mmltour.com and start at $49 plus taxes and fees. Epic VIP experiences are also available for those looking to up the ante and experience a night to remember.
