Mindbody title for the top 10 healthiest cities

Miami Ranks Healthiest City in America for the 3rd Year in a Row

For the third year in a row, Miami was ranked the healthiest city in America as part of the annual Mindbody Wellness Index. This means that we ranked higher than Los Angeles, San Diego, and 47 other most populous US cities.

Being the healthiest city involves a holistic look at wellness, not just exercise rates, including factors like levels of stress, amounts of rest, and connection within the community, among others. Here are some of the reasons that Miami ranked #1, according to Mindbody:

"The Magic City is the least stressed and the most well rested. They eat their fruits and vegetables, stay hydrated, engage in mentally stimulating activities, and feel connected to their community. This city is one of the fittest, it has the highest number of residents who engage in exercise at least once a week (over 80%) and do so for at least 90 minutes a week (over 56%). Residents are willing to stay up late to fit in movement, earning the title of most likely to book an evening workout. They’re also spending more than any other city at salons and spas, wellness businesses, and fitness studios and gyms."

Miami's GluteHouse Launches On-The-Go Programming

GluteHouse made its debut last year and has been a go-to for anyone looking to build their lower body ever since. Now, the programming is coming to wherever you are for those unable to attend the studio.

GluteHouse On-The-Go is a new, app-based online program designed to be your one stop shop for everything related to your lower body, specifically glutes. Perfected in-studio, these workouts will complement the rest of your training each week and promises to give you the glutes of your dreams.

The programming runs in four week cycles with two dedicated workouts a week. Through the GluteHouse Training app, you can access your workouts, track your weights, store your progress photos, message your coaches, and cheer on the rest of the #GluteGang from the message board.

The GluteHouse OTG program is for all levels. Each movement has a detailed video and notes section to go over how to set up and perform the movement and what you should be thinking about and feeling throughout the set. These cues and extra touches are what make this program different from other influencer workouts you may find online.

Members also have access to the OTG coaches via the training app, with the ability to message them and ask about technique and form, weight recommendations, substitutions, or anything else you might need.

"We designed a program that is meant to give you incredible results but more importantly teach you the proper ways to strength train," says Adam Becker, GluteHouse Founder. "We made sure this was an extension of what you can expect inside the studio. We didn't put together a pretty PDF with basic bodyweight workouts or waste time putting together highly produced videos that don't explain the structure of your workouts and how the are going to get you to your goals. We put our time and effort into coaching our clients and we will teach them lessons on everything they need to know to become the confident lifter everyone has inside of them."

Right now, GluteHouse On-The-Go is offering a special 'OG' membership rate of $59 per cycle for those who sign up by January 2. Additionally, anyone who signs up before Monday, December 20 will be entered to win one of 12 giveaways, which include a year free of GluteHouse OTG, a $500 Lululemon giftcard, and a Caribbean vacation.

Use promo code STAYFIT305 to get your first month free and lock in the OG pricing.

The first cycle starts on January 3 and after that date, pricing will increase to $99 per cycle. For more information, head to https://www.glute-house.com/onthego or check out @glutehouse on Instagram.

“Over the last couple of years, we’ve seen the interest in our strength content explode,” said Tom Cortese, Peloton’s co-founder and chief product officer, in an email to members. “Peloton Guide demystifies strength training to create a more engaging experience that will help Members stay motivated. We combined our world-class Instructors and class content with the best machine learning technology to create a whole new way to train. This is just the beginning for Peloton strength. Guide will keep getting smarter so it can grow stronger alongside our Members.”

‌‌Features of the Peloton Guide include:

The feature encourages Members to complete the demonstrated exercises and follow the Instructors for the entire class. New movements and class types will be regularly added.
  • Self Mode: The smart camera technology on Peloton Guide helps Members compare their form to the Instructor’s in real-time. Members can choose how to view themselves to easily make corrections and adjustments during class.

  • Voice activated: Members can stay focused on their workouts and control Peloton Guide hands-free. Members can wake up Peloton Guide, then start, stop, rewind, or fast forward through a class. Voice activation will initially be available in the US, Canada and UK, with other markets to come.
  • Member controlled privacy: Peloton Members will always have control over the camera and microphone. Members can put Peloton Guide to sleep, slide the cover over the camera, and even turn off the mic via a physical switch to ensure Members only share what they want to share.

‌The Peloton Heart Rate Band that will come with the Peloton Guide is also compatible with the Peloton Bike, Peloton Tread, and the Peloton App, making it easy to track Strive Score and Heart Rate zones across any Peloton product.

Let’s dive into this spotlight interview featuring Miami fitness trainer Andres Aleman.

Tell us about yourself - where are you from and how did you find your way to South Florida?

I was born in Ecuador and raised in Miami. At an early age, through wrestling, I realized I wanted to be a coach due to the impact my coaches had in my life.

How did you get your start in fitness and as an instructor?

Through my wrestling and MMA career I became very knowledgeable of different strength and conditioning methods and started coaching CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting. Now, I use all the experience I have acquired to pass it on to kids.

Where do you teach?

CrossFit Soul Miami and my client’s homes.

What is your favorite part of being a fitness instructor?

The impact that you can make in someone’s life.

How do you stay full of energy throughout the day?

I feed off the energy my clients give me and I get inspired to see them get closer to their goals.

Tell us a little bit more about your specialty as an instructor?

My specialty is definitely coaching kids and being able to capture their attention to teach them different modalities. Because of my experience with kids, I’ve developed great patience and it’s carried on to my adult clients which they appreciate.

Other than where you teach, where is your favorite place in South Florida to train?

Tropical Park.

What is a goal you have that you want to accomplish in 2021?

I’m working on a community project to raise funds for a foster home.

What is a long-term goal you are working towards or would love to achieve?

Become a global Lululemon ambassador and impact a bigger group of individuals through fitness.

What is the one thing you do every day to stay fit?

I currently compete in Olympic Weightlifting and I’m training for nationals.

Today, let’s introduce you to Andres Aleman. Andres is a mainstay at CrossFit Soul, and is now taking his years of training experience to teach youth everything they need to know about Olympic Lifting.
